
The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM)—representing thousands of venue managers and partner companies in stadiums, convention centers, performing arts centers, arenas, amphitheaters, stadiums and other public assembly venues continues to monitor the developments of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on Commercial Facilities (Venues) of all types. We are gathering information in order to understand the extent of its impact, learn more about the virus, and make recommended precautions. We remain committed through IAVM and the Department of Homeland Security Sub-Sector Coordinating Council to keep everyone informed because your health and safety is our top concern.

Focus FOURward Series
Following last year’s 20/20 Vision, IAVM’s Academic Committee will offer a new series of ZOOMcasts, Focus FOURward, featuring conversations with industry executives, each focused on four points of interest for looking into the future of the industry. Focus FOURward will be presented on the fourth Thursday of every month at 4 p.m. ET in 2021. The sessions will be geared for an audience of young and aspiring professionals and students, while others in venue management are also welcome to participate. Academic Committee Chair Bobby Goldwater, CVE, will lead these informative discussions along with a participatory question-and-answer segment.

What is the Global Biorisk Advisory Council Accreditation Program?
The GBAC STAR™ Accreditation Program on Cleaning, Disinfection and Infectious Disease Prevention for Facilities (GBAC STAR™ Program) establishes requirements to assist facilities in the cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention work practices to control risks associated with infectious agents such as SARS-CoV-2, Influenza, MRSA, and TB.
This GBAC STAR™ Program is performance based and sets out requirements for and places responsibility on facilities to demonstrate that appropriate cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention work practices, protocols, procedures, and systems have been established and implemented.
The GBAC STAR™ Program is designed such that any size facility or organization can use it and it is considered scalable.
